Explore the impulse & freedom of instinct embedded within my art.

"Proprioception is the perception of movement and spatial orientation arising from stimuli within the body itself. The 'body' here refers to both the artwork and also the person who is interacting with the work.

I am constantly exploring spaces where the urban environment and nature intersects, discovering hybrid forms, and making sense of diasporic experiences through the creative process.
In each work, I invite contemplation so that the act of thinking about (non-linear) time and space can be transformed into an experience. In the immersive installations created, I play with concepts of visual perception and interactivity. Audiences can step into the hybrid work and engage with it fully, as well as with each other.

Through abstraction, my work also explores the borders between painting and sculpture. My paintings may incorporate metal structures or industrial material, adding a sculptural element and transforming the work entirely. From there, I push the boundaries of painting to explore the intersections of materiality, space and image.

I often use unconventional industrial materials that are discarded or recycled in New York. In a modern city that often constructs its own reality through skyscrapers, my works also reflect upon our relationships to the urban and natural environments.

The creation of my work is process-driven and tactile sensation is created through  interactions between paint, canvas, industrial material, metal, and pigments. In the process of  creating art, I utilize all tools imaginable to forge a flow of meaning  through the work.  At different stages, concepts of wholeness, suspension and expansion are weaved in to make a coherent, life affirming statement. I believe that it is worth exploring ideas of dialogue, beauty, harmony through art - ultimately, to understand and respond to the world in a fresh new way.
